It was 413 miles of extremly hot weather and micro-sand storms. These conditions proved to be too much for 689 birds sent to the race. At the end of the second day, only 60 birds had been reported. Ares clocked at 11:00 am on the second day, winning the race and ensuring his Racing Pigeon Union Hall of Fame Award.

Is there any tricks you use when vaccinating?
Yes, when I vaccinate for Pox I mix half a dose of Pox dry serum with the dilutant. The recipe is 1/2 Pox dry serum to one vial of dilutant, add sterile water to fill the bottle. When I inject the vaccine, I fill an insulin syringe and inject under the first layer of skin at the base of the breast. I inject just enough to form a small bubble under the base of the skin.
